It's Leo's time! Kate Winslet is totally ready for her former Titanic costar Leonardo DiCaprio to win an Oscar — and she thinks 2016 is going to be his year.
The British actress, who played opposite the 41-year-old Oscar nominee as the Rose to his Jack Dawson in the 1997 blockbuster movie, told BBC News at Sunday, January 17's London Critics Circle Film Awards that she (and the rest of the world) will be rooting for DiCaprio.
“I think you can sort of feel it, and I think that everyone wants it for him,” Winslet (who herself won the Best Supporting Actress gong at the awards ceremony) said. “It would be amazing.”
But while she admitted she would be very "surprised" if DiCaprio didn't receive the recognition he deserves, Winslet did reveal her loyalties are slightly split as her Steve Jobs costar Michael Fassbender is also up for the Best Actor award.“It’s slightly difficult for me too, because Michael Fassbender has been nominated, and I was his right-hand woman for three months while we were making Steve Jobs and I saw how hard he worked," the actress admitted. "I think his performance is so extraordinary,” she went on. “But I think yeah, you can sort of feel the temperature. It’s probably going to be Leo’s year.”
