Well I must say that I wish I hadn't left it so long to watch this movie. My perception of it was completely wrong. I thought a teddy bear that could talk and walk would for sure be pathetic. I stand corrected, this movie is absolutely hilarious, I'm talking tears of laughter funny. So, let me give you the outline of the movie.
As a young child Bennett (Mark Wahlburg) doesn't have any friends. One Christmas morning he receives a teddy bear from his parents, he's so happy with his gift that he later makes a wish that Ted would be real and his best friend forever.
Low and behold the following morning Ted speaks to him. Rushing to the kitchen to tell his parents the "miracle" that has taken place, their reaction is priceless. News gets out about Bennett's teddy bear and for a while Ted becomes a celebrity.
The story picks up years later with Bennett and Ted still the best of friends. There's also an addition to the friendship Lori, Bennett's girlfriend (played by Mila Minis) Obviously so, she's not particularly fond of their close friendship and tells Bennett he needs to grow up and Ted needs to move out. Bennett agrees with her when he arrives home to find Ted with four prostitutes (one of which has decided to leave her excrement on the living room floor). The events that follow are side splitting funny. Don't want to give too much away so just a few spoilers. There's a fight scene between Ted and Bennett which is undoubtedly my favourite part of the movie. I mean a teddy up all in your face attacking you, classic.
Flash Gordon makes an appearance, as does Nora Jones. From kidnapping to partying to sexual innuendos this movie is a must see. Rated R this movie is not for the easily offended or more to the point those who lack a warped sense of humour. There's also talk of a sequel, so something to watch out for. This movie is also the highest grossing original R rated comedy of all time.
Enjoy the movie guys, you won't be disappointed.
