Sri Lanka Thrash Pakistan And Enter The Finals Of The 5th ICC T20 Cricket World Cup

As the first of the Semi-Finals of this years ICC T20 Cricket World Cup begin, it is none other than the hosting team Sri Lanka that comes out on top.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, things didn't go as planned for Mahela and his team in terms of runs scored. They ended up scoring just 139/4 in their 20 overs at a Run Rate of 6.95. It was the Sri Lankan Captain, Mahela Jayawardene, who topped the innings with his 42 (36 balls). The heavy hitting T. Dilshan also got off to a steady start, 35 (43 balls) but could not capitalize. The other batsmen did not fire up therefore were dismissed.
 The Pakistan bowling attack did nothing out of the ordinary. It was tight bowling from S. Tanvir and Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez topped the bowling side in the scorecard with a figure of 1-12 in his two overs.
The second innings started well for the Pakistan batsmen with both openers flying off to a good start. The rest of the batsmen were below average in their performance. Managing to score only 123/7 in their 20 overs at a Run Rate of 6.15. M. Hafeez was the highest run scorer for Pakistan, totalling 42( 40 balls). Rangana Herath was the best  performer with figures of 3-25 in his four overs.
Sri Lanka will now face the winners of the second Semi-Finals between Australia and the West Indies, which will be held on the 5th of  October at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
The Captain of the Sri Lankan team, M. Jayawardene, received the 'Man of the Match' award for his beautiful and constructive innings that glued the Sri Lankan batting. The Final will be held on Sunday the 7th of October at the Premadasa stadium also.
