Not A Bad Singer Either

Football is my life! I heard this line from my favourite football player Diego Armando Maradona. One day I got a chance to see Maradona, a football legend. I woke up early in the morning to visit Kannur Stadium, India in 2012. It was the time of my summer vacation. It was a great opportunity for me to meet such a player. He is not just a football player but also he is a great dancer. But on that day, I found out that he was not a bad singer as well.

At the Mexico World Cup, Diego Armando Maradona had the world at his feet with his footballing skills. Twenty six years later, by using the same pair of legs with which he dazzled the world, he had football crazy Keralites swooning. No, he did not step on to the ground to play football on that morning. His moving legs were showing that he was not a bad dancer either!

In the Kannur Municipal Stadium, the crowd gathered early in the morning to watch the football star. His football skills were really blowing the crowd, Mardona did not disappoint. He took an aerial view of Kannur Town before landing at the Stadium.
On the stage that was built for him, he waved at the crowd from the Stadium before expressing his desire to walk down the ramp. Then he began the Maradona show. Decked in a grey shirt and blue jeans, Maradona extended his tattooed arms to blow kisses.

Then, he took control of the football that was thrown towards him. He dribbled the ball a little and then tried to juggle it with his head before kicking it towards the fans. With the music waka waka playing in the background, it did not take too long for Maradona to break into a jig.

With the turning moves, he soon summoned Ranjini Haridas, anchor of the show, to dance with him. He was as quick with his dancing shoes as he was with his football boots. It was so difficult for Rajini to match the Argentineans dancing skills.

Then the beautiful moment had been reached for Maradona, it was the turn of IM Vijayan, with whom he played a round of head ball. Maradona had turned 52 years of age, the organizers had made a cake in the shape of a football ground with a ball at the center. With happiness and joy, it was requested forMaradona to cut it. As Maradona stepped up, a musician Charles Anthon, played the guitar and sang Happy Birthday in Spanish. The moment he heard those Spanish words, Maradona's eyes lit up. He dropped the knife and breaking the security barrier, he rushed towards the musician. He grabbed a microphone on the way. For the next 10 minutes, Maradona showed he was not a bad singer either!

Really guys, it is the biggest event in football history. Perhaps, this prestigious event has been hiding in the history of football. I really enjoyed this event with my deemed eyes.
