Friends, This article will highlight the possible threats on your Android device.

We all know, how vulnerable Windows devices are, but have you ever imagined Linux based Android devices can be a threat to your Bank Accounts?

Android platform is most popular operating system ever in history of computing systems. It started with smartphone, tablets, netbooks and today we can see even Android based laptops (modified operating system).

Recently, Android devices were found targeting customers of several banks in Europe. Dubbed FakeToken , one of the principal differences of this new threat compared with previous Trojan attacks for Android such as Zitmo/Spitmo was the fact that both authentication factors (Internet password and mTAN) were stolen directly from the mobile device. In this case the cyber criminals had no need to first infect PCs to steal bank account passwords.

This is how it works
=> User clicks on phishing mail link
=> User gets redirect to malicious link
=> It asks for authentication.
=> After authentication, it generates fake eSMS software protection link pretending as a Safe way of TokenGenerator. (Popularly known as OTA - One Time Authentication via SMS)
=> This eSMS software blocks SMS originates from Original Banking site (as malware had control of phone, using IMEI, fake SMS is generated and Original SMS is forwarded to attacker)
=> User gets FAKE authentication error, whereas attacker gets access to bank's gateway and money is transferred.

Precautions:
=> Before installing any .apk application please check which access is being granted by the application.

Solution:
=> Do install latest Internet Security Antivirus on your Android device.

Advance technology gives user ease of accessibility but it comes with new vulnerabilities, which can be avoided by being aware of them.
