Mohammad Mursi Risks A Second Revolution In Egypt
[Maro], 4 июля 2013 г., 3:45
Many Egyptians think that a second revolution is what is needed to solve Egypts democratic transition, which began more than two years ago. They are planning massive demonstrations in an attempt to oust President Mohammad Mursi from office.

Mursi, an Islamist with roots in the Muslim Brotherhood, was elected last year. Today is the anniversary of his inauguration, and his supporters plan counter-demonstrations. Mursi maintains that the ballot box is the way to change leaders, and he's right, when elections take place in a democracy. Egypt is now under the tight control of a political sector of the military and Mursi and his Islamist allies. It has no lawful parliament. Its constitution was created without the input of secular democrats. Opposition activists are under arrest.

A campaign called "Tamarod" in Arabic and "Rebel" in English started collecting signatures to prove that people no longer trust Mursi and it succeeded in collecting 22 million signatures!

Many protesters who started Cairos Tahrir Square demonstrations for freedom and rights in 2011 now say their revolution has been hijacked.
Starting 30/6 people are going out for protests in Al Ethadeya and Tahrir square, that would probably last until Muhammad Mursi agrees to organize early elections.

The increasingly anti-democratic regime reached its nadir this month when it convicted three dozen Egyptian and western employees of pro-democracy non-profits - most of the westerners in abstentia - for conducting voter education efforts. Sentences ranged from one to five years.

Since Mursi has become president, he hasn't achieved any of the revolution's demands.
Peaceful protests had already started everywhere. Let's pray that God saves Egypt.
