Sometimes life takes us to a point where we need to choose a way. A way which we don't know how it'll be, where it will lead us and what it will bring. Sometimes we need to cover up all our dreams and listen to our loved ones. We think we lost every thing but the blessings and care of our loved ones takes us to a successful destination. One of our friends "Drops" wants to share his horrible experience with us, when he was in a forest face to face with a tiger. That moment changed his life and now he is with us to share his story. So my dear friends, let us read the story of our friend "Drops". (Photo not found) First of all I am thankful to Coolstar for giving me an opportunity to express my experience which I encountered in a forest. Myself Ronnie Edward (Drops), 26. Since childhood, I was interested in the great outdoors and wildlife, so I managed to fulfil my passion by going on the correct path and becoming a forest Ranger at Bandipur Forest, India. I was so happy and proud to get my first job of collecting the data about tigers. The happiness didn't remain with me for long and soon my dream left me pondering if I made the right career choice One day on a chilly morning my partner John and I went to the selective area reserved for the tigers. We were allotted work of collecting the number of tigers in a given zone. It was a fine day, I still remember the songs of the birds, shouting of monkeys, noise of cicadas etc. We were walking through a deep vegetation, with just two water bottles, some eating material, a gun and our data book. While going ahead deep in the forest we encountered our first problem. John, my partner felt sick, started vomiting and had diarrhoea. We spent some time at a plain and open place. From any side we were not safe but atleast we were able to see the animals if they were coming. It was afternoon. The physical conditon of my friend got worse and he refused to go ahead. I agreed with him but I was sceptical to go without him but he encouraged me to carry on with the work and handed me the gun and his bag. I was really scared to go without him but gathering all my momentum and strength decided to go. John went back to the quarters. It was the best thing for him. Now I was alone, not actually as I was surrounded by the wild animals and other creatures. It was now drawing close to sunset, the sun moved down and the darkness started engulfing the forest. At this point I hadn't come across any tigers, that was deflating for me. It was around 5.30pm and I decided to make a further strategy. I took a rest to drink some water and got spooked to the see the monkeys in the trees shouting and panicking. Suddenly everything became silent. "Why has this happened?" I started looking all around me. Oh my goodness I thought to myself as I remembered the training session knowing it must be a tiger lurking around me. From here on things changed. I was scared and before I had time to get my gun I saw a tiger coming out of the deep vegetation just in front of me, roughly 20 meters away. Within a second I thought to myself "I am going to die". The tiger was staring at me and his eyes were deeply penetrating my eyes he was elegantly moving right and left, left and right in a "V" manner. I was totally frozen, and it felt like my heart came into my mouth. I stopped breathing. But our God had a different plan for me. There were lots of monkeys panicking in a trees and one smart monkey threw a stick at the tiger to which he became distracted. This was my chance to make my escape with a pounding heart and legs like lead I ran to a tree to climb. Upon finally reaching the tree, and thinking I was going to be ok, the tiger jumped on my back and clawed my right thigh. I shouted out in pain as my thigh muscles were exposed by the sharp, thick long nails of this relentless beast. I proceeded to climb the tree, safely escaping the tiger and started shouting as an alternative to the gun which I left under the tree. This time God was with me and I think he ordered the tiger to let me live more. After some time the tiger went away into the bushes. I spent the night in a that tree hoping to see the morning sun. My thigh was bleeding, so I wrapped my shirt around it. It was a horrible night and you cannot imagine how it was to be in a forest at night, alone, injured and scared. (Photo not found) I survived till morning. I gingerly crept from the tree and made my way back to headquarters. There I got treated and medicated by the doctors. Since then and up until now I have deep trust in the presence of God. Later, I was forced by my parents to leave the job, so I did. Now I am a successful fisherman living and earning well, and living a happy life with my dearest parents. Yes Drops, God is with you and we salute you for what you suffered. Wishing you a happy life. Thank you so much for sharing a personal and life threatening experience with us. Author: Me
