It's been about a week since the supposed Doom's day. Nothing happened except for a few natural calamities in Philippines and Northern America. Yet at the end of the day, the world we live in, didn't really end! Predictions regarding End Of The World are old and numerous. Romans predicted apocalypse to occur in 389 B.C. Since then, a remarkable number of prominent personalities which include Sir Sandro Botticelli, John Napier, Jacob Bernoulli etc. expected this world to end on some specific dates. All of the above dates of predictions have passed with nothing actually happening, including the recent prediction of the Mayans which even specified the exact hour at which devastation would occur. Undoubtedly Ancient Mayans were remarkable mathematicians and astronomers. But did we take their words too seriously? The truth is in our face! The world didn't end! So are you guys ready to welcome new year with great feeling of victory over death? Feels good, doesn't it? We're safeWait!! Are we really safe?
Do you really think this world will end based on some Prophecy? Trust me, if this world really ends some day, it's because of what we've been doing to mother earth! You grab a bottle of coke , drink and throw away the empty bottle which would take 450 years to degrade? Think! As I mentioned earlier, we've been warned an infinite number of times and yet we didn't learn a thing. We just fall prey for marketing giants who use such "end of the world" tales to the maximum extent filling their pockets. But we are educated galaxians, aren't we? So fellas, lend me ur ears for a while. Here are a few little things which we can do to make a LESS harmful impact on the environment! And they are as easy as pie
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
=> Use less plastic
If you must drink bottled water, juice, etc, recycle the bottle. So let "reduce and recycle" be the motto. => If 7,000 working staff in an office recycled all their paper stuff in a year, it's equivalent to 400 cars removed off the road. So recycle old newspaper, notebooks etc.
=> Use less water. When you save water, you save life. On an average each person who lets tap run while brushing teeth wastes about 7 litres of water. If 1.21 billion Indians turn tap off while brushing their teeth, we could simply conserve 1.21 billion X 7 liters= 8.47 billion liters of water, in JUST A DAY
(source:ITC) Make it a part of your new year resolution! => Save Energy! Unplug electronic appliance when they are not in use, including your mobile. Turn off lights when they are not in use! => Waste management. Manage waste effectively. Use methods like Vermitechnology, wherein we use household biodegradable waste to produce fertile manure. You can use it as manure for your small rose plant in your garden
and anyone can do it without any special aid. (pm me for more info) Author: [Deepu] *****
