Budget is a quantitative expression of or a list of all planned income and expenses for a defined period of time. Budget usually is executed by households, firms, and government. It is a plan for saving and spending for the near future. The purpose of A budget is to make sure spending doesn't get out of control, assist in decision making, to get out of debt, for wealth building, in achieving dreams and most importantly to reduce stress. Other types of budget includes: Sales, Production, Capital, Project, Cash flow/Cash, Revenue, Marketing and Expenditure. The most common budget used is Personal or Family Budget. It comprises of all sources of income (inflows) and expenses (outflows) planned in, with the intention of matching outflows to inflows (i.e. making ends meet). It includes sources like fixed expenses, monthly payments, insurance, entertainment, and savings. A budget may either be Surplus, Deficit or even Zero (Balanced) Budget. A surplus budget means that income is greater than expenses. A balanced budget means that income and expenses are equal. A deficit budget simply means expenses are greater than income earned.
