All languages in the world are beautiful in their own way. I'm very excited to tell you about most beautiful words in English language based on my opinion. In this article I'll be using Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English which is very useful for English speakers as well.
What are those "beautiful" words? Saying "beautiful" I mean the way how they sound, how unusual they are to hear in daily conversations.
* * Eloquence. As a noun it means beauty and persuasion in speech. As an adjective - able to express your ideas and opinions well, especially in a way that influences people. For example, an eloquent appeal for support.
* * Ineffable is an adjective and means "too great to be described in words". Ineffable joy, as an example.
* * Plethora (noun) - a very large number of something, usually more than you need: a plethora of suggestions.
* * Quintessential (noun) means being a perfect example of a particular type of person or thing: Galaxy is the quintessential chat for love and fun.
* * Soliloquy is a noun which relates to a speech in a play in which a character, usually alone on the stage, talks to himself or herself so that the audience knows their thoughts.
* * Susquehanna - a river in Pennsylvania.
* * Umbrella (noun) is an object that you use to protect yourself against rain or hot sun. It consists of a circular folding frame covered in cloth. For example, It started to rain, so Tricia stopped to put up her umbrella. I spent the day on the beach, lying under a beach umbrella, reading.
* * Zephyr (noun) is a soft gentle wind.
* * Hiraeth (noun) is an intense form of longing or nostalgia or homesickness.
* * Nefarious (adjective) means evil or criminal. Nefarious activities such as drug trafficking and fraud.
* * Serendipity (noun) - when interesting or valuable discoveries are made by accident.
* * Illicit (adjective) - not allowed by laws or rules, or strongly disapproved of by society. Illicit drugs. The illicit trade in stolen cattle.
