How Good Is Tomato For Our Health?

We all know that the tomato is one of the most healthiest fruits known to man. But do we know exactly how it is good for our health. In this article I want to briefly tell you how essential it is for us to eat tomatoes.

Italians called it 'Pomodoro' or 'Golden Apple', France and Spain called it 'Love Apple'.

There are different varieties of tomatoes, some are red while some are yellow. When buying a tomato choose the one that has rich colours. Deep red are the best choice as they contain an outstanding source of Lycopene, which has been considered a potential agent for the prevention of some types of cancers, particular prostate cancer. Lypotene can also control cell damage due to aging. Some other health benefits of tomatoes are as follows:

1. It decreases the chance of heart failure.
2. It is good for High Blood pressure as it can lower it.
3. It strengthens bones. 
4. It reduces blood sugar.
5. It can prevent Osteoporosis, which is a decrease in bone mass that can lead to increased risked in fractures.
6. It can also prevent Alzheimer disease.
7. It is good for a person having a deficiency in Calcium, for those who have insomnia, eczema, and also for those who have depression.
7. It's a good antioxidant as it can reduce lipid peroxidation.
 Alpha-tomatine found in tomatoes has the ability to prevent metabolic activity in developing prostrate cancer cells, as well as lung cancer cells.

The are many ways to add tomatoes in our daily food. We can make it a tomato paste, or we can add it in our vegetable salad or soup etc. But before serving, always wash tomatoes under cool running water and pat it dry first. If possible try to develop a recipe that makes use of the whole tomato. Here is one simple recipe that is easy to make, have tomato and at the same time tasty.

Bread with Tomato Recipe

Ingredients:
- 5 ripe plum tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Olive oil
- 6 basil leaves
- Ground black pepper
- 1 baguette

Steps:
1. First boil the tomatoes for 1 minute. Drain the water out, peel the skins, and slice them into small sizes, also remove the seeds and stem area.
2. Chop garlic and basil. Put them in a bowl along with chopped tomatoes. Drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil, and add salt and pepper to taste.
3. Slice the bread in any shape you want, but at a bite size. Coat each side of each slice with olive oil and put them on a heated pan, toast it until bread turns golden brown.
4. Align the bread on a platter with tomato topping or in a bowl separately.
